Nemetschek North America Releases Location Planning Module for VectorWorks
Columbia, Maryland (September 14, 2006) Nemetschek North America announced today that a new module that automates the process of creating location plans for environmental graphic designers is now available to all VectorWorks 12 users. Called the Location Planning Module, the new module is free and can be downloaded from the Nemetschek North America web site.
“With this Location Planning Module, as well as its modeling and mapping capabilities, VectorWorks is making itself indispensable to the environmental graphic design market,” says Craig Berger, director of education and professional development, Society for Environmental Graphic Design (SEGD). “SEGD members work extensively to develop message schedules for interior and exterior sign programs, as well as develop highly-detailed documents for these message schedules, and this module more than meets their needs. Environmental graphic design and exhibition design are evolving into a highly-technical hybrid of graphic design, architectural design, and industrial design. And VectorWorks, along with traditional graphic design software, should be integrated into the curriculum for all young designers interested in pursuing environmental graphic design.”
The Location Planning Module simplifies the wayfinding process for environmental graphic designers. Technology within the module allows designers to import EPS, DWG/DXF, image, and PDF files; create sign tags and add sign data and messages with an exclusive Sign tool; choose signs quickly from an editable catalog of sign types; customize sign symbols with a built-in library; keep track of your signage with auto-incrementing sign IDs and an automatic re-sequencing capability; update drawings with a series of pre-formatted sign schedules that link to drawings and automatically update as drawings change; export data in the sign schedule to database programs; and more.
“The VectorWorks team at Nemetschek North America has been a great partner in the development of the software strategy within our practice,” James Keppel, technical director, Communication Arts, Inc. “We ask for solutions, and they respond. The Location Planning Module is yet another example of their willingness to shape their products to meet our needs.”
