VectorWorks Users Rios Clementi Hale Studios Win AIACC 2007 Firm Award
Columbia, Maryland (April 19, 2007)Nemetschek North America congratulates Los Angeles firm Rios Clementi Hale Studios on winning the 2007 Firm Award from the American Institute of Architects, California Council. This award is the most significant honor awarded to a firm by the AIACC and recognizes firms who have consistently produced distinguished architecture, contributing to the advancement of the profession in areas of design, research, planning, technology, preservation, and innovation for a period of at least ten years.
Rios Clementi Hale Studios was founded in 1985 and bases its success on its multi-disciplinary approach, as well as its long-standing commitment to integrated and collaborative design processes. Those processes incorporate the use of VectorWorks software. The 50-person firm has 39 seats of VectorWorks and has been using the program for 12 years, starting from when VectorWorks was known as MiniCAD 5.
"We use VectorWorks for nearly all phases of design and production in our office," says Matt Richmond, director of technology at Rios Clementi Hale. "We work on both Macintosh® and PCs, and VectorWorks allows us to do our work on whichever platform we prefer, with virtually no cross-platform issues. We really like the fact that we can use VectorWorks to articulate our most schematic design ideas in 2D and 3D, and that we can continue using it all the way through construction document production. It performs as an intuitive design tool with excellent presentation capabilities in our design phases and as a full-featured production tool in the later phases. We recently upgraded to the VectorWorks Design Series, which gives us specialized tools that fit the varied disciplines in our office-including landscape architecture, interior design, product design, exhibit design, and graphics-and allows for seamless collaboration across all our different disciplines, platforms, and projects."
Long respected and known for its architecture, interiors, and landscape architecture, Rios Clementi Hale Studios also excels in product design, graphics, and urban planning. The late Robert Timme, FAIA, dean of USC's School of Architecture, noted in 2005 that Rios Clementi Hale Studios "is the closest thing we have now to the creative richness of Charles and Ray Eames' studio during the mid-20th century. In another 20 years, I think we might look back that way on Rios Clementi Hale Studios."
